Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecast: Number 6, Number 6 – 6 Pack CARS Coming

Well, since we have singles, 2-packs, 3-packs, 4-packs, 5-packs, 7-packs, 9-packs and 10-packs … now, 6-packs have shown up on the listing …

2 6-packs are listed, one definitely not at all interesting, the other? Well, if Darrell & Brent sported headphones (and the new” David Hobbscapp”) … then okay but if Darrell & Brent came the same as the 2-pack (no headphones)???

They probably won’t arrive until the holiday period …It does not seem to be listed as an exclusive but it might be too early to say …

BTW, anyone noticed that Darrell Cartrip is NOT chrome-silver but black topped this time … time for yet another Darrell production correction?

Didn’t read all the other posts (Sorry)

Is it not a better idea to charge more for these things and put them in 2 – 4 – 6 packs where the characters all have a substantial relativity with each other?!?!?!?

Like the five pack with the Tunerz and Sheriff… Awesome. Probably the first and the best out there…

Love the fact that Mattel wants to have us buy these over and over again – But we all agree that we would spend the same insane amount of cash once, but for the right stuff…

  • Alex says:

2-pack with Darrel and Brent says Brent is exclusive, so I’m sure Brent from 6-pack will have headphones.

    • Eric says:

Or it could be the silver Darrell from Cars 1 that was the exlcusive in that 2-pack since he clearly has a black shine to him in the second movie (as MET pointed out). It was one of the first things I texted to a fellow TFAD member when the racing scene started in the theater. I was excited because I thought the new Darrell look was pretty fly for a white guy… Bring on a ransburg black/silver version (with headphones of course).

i always wanted a david and a lewis and mama toplino cause i have uncle toplino

  • The Pit Stop says:

I’m with you on that MET. None of the released reporters have headphones yet??? Let’s hope that these packs do.

  • I want the first 6 pack only for David. Unless they put headphones on Darrell and Brent. I’m passing on the other 6 pack. I don’t want duplicates. And I still don’t have Shu, Miguel, or Lewis! The second 6 pack should have been 3 gremlins and 3 pacers, or Mater as a blue tow truck named Ivan, a german truck, a vampire, a taco truck, and a hod rod with Holley, or Finn McMissile with guns, Mater with bomb (From TRU 5 pack with McQueen, Holley, Miles and Nigel), Sgt Highgear, Professor Z without monocle, The Queen, and Prince Wheeliam. Those would have been awesome!

I’ll get the first pack, but the other is $#!+. For you, at least it’s 2 new. I’m still yet to buy anything, but I’ll stick like glue to this plan.
      6 Pack #1
      All 5 Kmart 2 Packs.
Sal Machiani, Tomber, Tyler, and Fred 2 packs
      Ronnie Cooper 4 pack
Target 7 Pack w/ Francesco fan ONLY IF CLEARANCED.
      Any remaining singles I want.
Starting wave 2, I’ll just buy loose on eBay.

I have ways they could’ve done the other packs, like an 8 pack with lemons, Ivan, Victor’s transpot, fans, British cars, etc. I’ll bet Leland TTurbo will be the next victim of multipack with tons of duplicates exclusive. The prince, Clutchgoneski, Chauncey FAres, and others could be too. I’ll teach Mattel a lesson. Those 7 packs probably will be clearanced seeing what happened with the 9 packs. BTW, which store will get these and for what price? My guess is $25 for Walmart.

Do you know if the 0 Pack is scheduled? I hope so!

  • cac1959 says:

Mattel is doing a dadgum good job of causing me to lose excitement about the Cars2 diecasts…

I love the announcers – that may be the only way to get David Hobbscapp… but one new Car out of 6? More than likely a $29.99 retail price… and no new Cars out of 6 in the second one? That will be an easy pass.

When disdain towards Mattel > love of the Cars, then it’s time to find a new hobby.

There will probably be quite a few box sets full of cars we already have as Christmas approaches. Let them draw the non-collector’s attention as they ignore the new singles so we can hunt those!

  • John in Missouri says:

Met — I don’t think Darrell is black-topped, I just think it’s the shading and/or reflection of the ceiling over his head.

  • Jack says:

The plan going into Cars 2 distribution must have been let’s put out almost every car in 10 different ways. Except some of the sets that we will put either a couple 10 cent accessory on a few cars or add in only 1 or 2 different cars.
It seems they are really doing their best to kill the hobby for collectors.

    • mattmartin says:

Jack has hit the nail on the head as he always does and I am now officially done collecting cars 2. If the huge amount of multipacks released even before the film was released with only 1 or 2 Cars in them we did not already have is any indication of the future, many more will be bowing out of collecting everything!

So to all whom I know and who have traded with me, thanks, It was a pleasure but Mattel has turned my buzz well and truly off! But hey, rest assured I will keep in touch but be only collecting the cars that float my boat rather than craving to get them all!
      Matt

  • Chris says:

I’d get the first one if they all had headphones, which hopefully they will.

Still don’t understand why Mattel even included a Cars 2 Darrell car without headphones… he is never without headphones in the movie as far as I can remember. The first 2-pack comes off as completely lazy (they didn’t even give him headphones on the cardback). I hope they correct it in this 6-pack. *fingers crossed*

Also, does anyone recall whether the Walmart “Mater with Spy Glasses” appears in the movie? I can’t recall seeing him like that.

    • John in Missouri says:

Mater with Spy Glasses is exactly what my kids and I were trying to figure out this weekend. I told them it was just when Mater was seeing all the names and aliases of the criminals. But we just didn’t recall seeing that item in the movie.

      • bobbyjack says:

Would you believe last time I was in Walmart the other day, I was trying to remember if I had seen Mater like that too? I came to the conclusion that I had not. Maybe it was a deleted scene and we will see it on the DVD. Anyway, I skipped that 2 pack because we already had two other Acers anyway.

If the announcer cars do not have headphones, we will not buy it either. I hope someone from Mattel is reading this post…

        • quercy says:

Unless I have completely missed it, same thing apply to Tyler the Red Grem… I also tought about deleted scene but HEY HO Mattel before producing diecast from deleted scenes (if it’s the case) can you at least do the one from the movie first, then when you will be done with the 984 characters plus all the variant movement of each one you want then you may think to create ones we have never seen… but please NOT BEFORE THAT.

P.S.: Don’t worry BobbyJack Mattel do not read our comments, they are too bu$y counting their profit (doesn’t matter how many peg warmers they will end up to, they will still count mega profit) and just in case they do read us, it is probably to get new ideas from our sarcastic comments…

          • bobbyjack says:

Gimme a six pack with a green, purple, and yellow gremlin. Then a blue, red, and orange Pacer. I’d buy that 6 pack. All simple repaints! No new molds! That will stretch Mattel’s profit margin! Everyone would buy them! They would fly of the shelves!

          • Stig McQueen says:

I doubt Mattel, Disney or Pixar knew which CARS would end up on the cutting room floor when they started tooling up for the diecasts. The diecasts hit the shelves about a month before the movie came out; if you work backwards and account for shipping time from China, start-up time for the factory, tooling development, etc., it’s very likely that decisions on what to produce were made while the movie was still in final production. Some of the characters’ names were obviously not even finalized at the time (ex: Tyler Trunklis/Tyler Gremlin, A Trunkov/Petrov Trunkov/Petrov Oilski). Red Grem/Tyler Gremlin/Tyler Trunklis probably had a more prominent role in a scene that ultimately had to be deleted. Same thing for spy-glasses Mater. Guess we’ll find out when the Blu-Ray comes out at Christmas time…

            • Fillmore1234 says:

Tyler Gremlin is in CARS 2! Watch the 5 minute sneak peek on the Disney website and he is there! He’s at the part where Finn tips over the shelf and the Japanese salesmen get angry at the Gremlin. THE GREMLIN IS RED!

  • The back drop is very cool, I will get this one for David and the cool back scene. I also happen to think the Mustang (Brent) is one of the best cars from Cars2.

  • rpag says:

I get the first one, but the second one? If the announcers have headphones, I’m in. If they don’t and it’s the only way to get David, I’m still in.
