Since we are talking about Apple Car,
    Question for my fellow collectors:

For those lucky enought to own an original SOTS Apple Car, how perfect is the paint on these? Is it true that they are “flawless” I am asking because I bought a couple years ago an Apple Car with correct date stamp in the right font. The car looks great except for a minor paint flaw and a flea bite in another spot. The sponsor decals on it are of great quality and very legible. At the very least I think it is a factory reject, but I would like to know if it is an original. The wheels fit normal. So basically I want to know if original SOTS Apple cars have minor flaws or not.

    Thanks!

Release them all…Collect them all. 🙂

  • Jack says:

Well I have the Speedway set and paid quite a bit, because although we bought some Cars early on, I did not get seious about collecting until just after they offered the set for 300.00.
I say they should make them All available again. This isn’t about me or our collection. I believe in second chances and would like to see all the new collectors and people who missed out on the SOTS to have another chance to own all the racers.
I don’t even care if Mattel originally promised something would be exclusive to the set. Let it be the SOTS Dale for all I care. As a lover of these cars I want as many people to have them as want them.
I hope they don’t release 35 out of 36 Cars and hold out with Apple. That’s cheesy.  Let the little kids have some Apples-IMacs to get passed up by Lightning just like in the movie. As a popular rock band once said ” Give the people what they want”
As for the adults who will feel slighted if someone else gets the whole set, the happiness of many others is more important. Besides I am sure there will be plenty of people who will buy your set back for more than cost if you don’t think it’s worth it anymore.
Mattel can make a slightly different Apple if they want also. Come on Mattel- release them all.

    My prediction:

    Cars Day 5:
    Tacomint
    Sidewall Shine
    Faux Wheel drive
    Tank Coat
    Shiny Wax
    View Zeen
    Gaskits
    Nitroade

    Day 6:
    Lightning
    King
    Chick
3 or 4 other Cars characters we haven’t seen yet.

I don’t see them releasing Apple. Ever.

One more thing: I did get a chance to talk to the K-Mart manager about upcoming Cars Days. He said that Mattel and K-Mart have decided that it’s enough of a draw that they will continue for the foreseeable future. Good news!

…and then for X-MAS 2011 Comes the SPECIAL EDITION OF all 36 Cars in one BIG BOX with Rubber tires of course the box will still NOT HAVE a Serial number on it so that will be mailed under seperated cover at a later date…in which after several months you could write to who ever and hope that they will send you and old something or nothing to stick on the side… BUT IT WOULD BE WORTH IT BECAUSE JR’s Car # 8 will be still another size… or will it be the Apple with a darker gray… JUST LORD PLEASE DON”T MAKE IT WILL DOUBLE EYES!!!

Here’s a thought and only a thought…there are some people out there that like to collect. As much as everyone wants the “big 3” (Tach, Apple, Gaskits), I hope they are never re-released. There has to some cars that are truely hard to find items. Everything in this whole series of Cars has been ruined by Mattel releasing everything over and over. What about the people who bought the Speedway of the South set? Not the greedy Ebay’ers but the people who really bought into the “1 of 1000” theory? Now you release every car that was in that set and BOOM…what was the point of buying it in the first place? I understand that it has its value as a set but nothing in that set will be sacred. The chase cars were another great idea poorly executed. The same old cars re-released (Chuki, Ferrari)??? and WAY too many to be a true collectable. I have had a great time collecting these cars with my 5 year old son and I am a regular viewer of this site though rarely post. All that being said, whats gonna happen is gonna happen and I’ll still buy the cars no matter what! By the way, I WISH I was one of the lucky people who got that Speedway set…let those people have something special. Thanks for reading by babble!

    • Man-I-Fold says:

Yeah I have to agree you have a good point here. However, I think that the Apple iCar should be the only one that is never re-released. Tach-O-Mint and Gask-Its should be more available (more legit copies issued equals cheaper and more available, right?) so that kids can actually have them to play with – a car with candy decals and a car with cookie biscuit treats are just so perfectly matched to kids’ imaginations. Let the Apple car be the one car that remains nearly impossible to attain. That being said, I hope I’m able to find an Apple car soon… 😉

      • BMW says:

On the back of the SOTS display box the very last car pictured is Tach O Mint, misspelled Tack O Mint. I have often thought that it would be the last released. And Creme Filled Gask-its is on the last line of cars too.
But Tow Cap is in between them.. and two rows in front are Dale Jr and Apple. There goes my theory.

But those of us who bought the set from the Red Line Club have been enjoying the beauty of it for the last two years, and the display box is unbelievable in its execution. So no matter what, its the original and the cars are, lets say, collector quality. Really.

        • Man-I-Fold says:

wow, I’d love to see a SOTS set in person. Hey Chicago peeps, anyone have a set? We could have the first official meeting of the Windy City chapter TakeFiveADay Cars club with viewing of the set as the highlight. And make homemade Gask-Its to serve with N2O or Nitroade? Nitroade recipe swap and tasting? Slide-show (ok PowerPoint) of the real Nascar origins of the Fabulous Hudson Hornet? How about it? Anyone?

          • NascarFan says:

If you do get an official TFAD member group Like I started I can send you the business card format for the Utah Disney – Pixar Cars Collector Club

I hereby nominate the chicago “Windy City” Disney – Pixar Cars Collector Club as TFAD Charter # 02

    Here’s my prediction:
    Kmart day 5:
    Tacomint
    Sidewall Shine
    Faux Wheel drive
    Tank Coat
    Shiny Wax
    View Zeen

    Kmart day 6:
    Lightning
    King
    Chick
    Apple
    Gaskits
    Nitroade
Either way the next two events will have more sought after cars. Now if they can only include some non racers most people want it would be even better.

  • TarheelBill says:

Looks like they are right on track to do them all in two more events. 😉 Hopefully including Apple!

  • Chris says:

Does anyone have a list of Kmart cars in order of release?
    Kmart Dat 1
    2
    3
    4
If you do could you please email me at chengy13@aol.com
My son got into my cars, hopefully I’mm not missing any
    thank Chris

(MET: All the cards are shown above).

  • TrboTrex says:

Great list, I have a concern though. Do you really think that NASCAR style Dale Jr. will get made as a rubber tire car? I think they made this one to replace it and save money on casting. I have a feeling that all Dale Jr.s from this point on will be the Nitroade body. So to include it in your list is a lttle misleading.

  • Matt says:

    Want the rest

  • Micky says:

I love lists. I’m a list maker, but you are the best list maker I know. Thanks 🙂
