I like the mega block cars more because the actual cars for the most part are 4 pieces not two. My son still plays with them from time to time so they were a pretty good value. He likes to use all the car parts to make Frankenstein cars. The lego ones are very stylish but they are also carry a pretty hefty price tag. I don’t think we will be buying them mainly because of the price.

I still think these should have been issued as LEGO sets rather than (or in addition to) Duplo. My son won’t be the least bit interested in the Duplos, but a LEGO set would have him saving up his allowance and begging for extra chores to earn enough money as fast as possible!

I expect LEGO is a bit gun-shy after their last car-movie tie-in, Speed Racer, sold like coldcakes. That had more to do with the movie (which made absolutely no sense) and its PG-13 rating than anything else. CARS is proven!

I just picked up the Lego “Toy Story 3 Todd’s Pizza Plant” today. Are we seeing a little “crossover” action with Cars and Toy Story? Was hamm not featured in Toy Story 1 and maybe 2? How does the “YO” truck play into this? Have Mattel and Lego now entered into the world of DC and Marvel comics? One of the best ‘hooks’ of all time is comic’s crossing story lines. How about the slinky dog as a lightyear launcher? Maybe Buzz Lighyear as Boost. A world of endless possibilities.

my son’s 7 months now – looks like I know what he’s going to get for Christmas!

(MET: Um, you better open, assemble and play with them just to make they work okay 🙂 ).

I saw these at Target the other day and they look pretty cool. They also had the Todd Pizza Planet in the Toy Story 3section

Lego Speedway of the South set anyone?

Very nice… My grandchildren have outgrown these, but as Laurence said, I haven’t…

If you’re not fortunate enough to live near a Lego Store you can order these online from Lego Shop@home. If you do make sure to sign up for their VIP program; for every $100 spent you get $5. It’s a good deal if you buy a lot of Lego.

We got all the Mega Block sets when they were out so even though I think these are better I don’t see myself buying them all over again. Well, maybe

  • Laurence says:

so what if all my kids/nephews are grown up beyond the recommended age of these….i’m not 🙂
