Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Pity Us? Where Be the Pitty’s & Crew Chief’s?

Here’s what’s coming next …

And yea, good luck finding the Octane Gain Team Crew set …

Who’s next?

Team Crew Bumper Save was shown as last year’s SDCC but …

Will Team N20 Cola beat it out the gates?

Or another one?

Or one with a hauler already out?

Well, if it was actually in stock, you could get free shipping …

Poor, poor pitti-ful us … not very full of Pitty’s … in fact, it’s the pits and not the kind where you can get gassed up – though we are gassy about it …

Is there a Target store we loathe – maybe we can buy up all the Team Crews in our local stores and return them ALL to one Target store? What store shall it be?

Thanks “Kevin W” & “003.”

  • cant wait for these to pop out, Octain Gain is nice, had mine for awhile now

I love these sets, but doubt they will be in seen in the wild before cars 2.

  • bigdoug says:

i got the team dinoco and chick hicks sets for £12 each on ebay.co.uk. i was quite shocked to see them at that price. we have never seen these in uk stores along with the three packs like the show girls and chick fans mia and tia.

  • Man-I-Fold says:

Good points all! My 4 yr old loves these and completely gets the pit stop concept. The pitties love to travel around from Radiator Springs to California (IE from one side of the living room to the other) along with their respective hauler and racer, and repair all of the Cars cars. He’s figured out that he can fit the whole crew plus the racer in the Hauler and drive it around so long as you leave the door open and the floor slid out.
Since RPM, Leak Less, and Nitroade were the racers most widely available since these toys came out, it seems their pit crews should have been available first, after Dinoco, HtB, and Rust-Eze.
Anyway, we will definitely buy Nitroade’s pit crew at the restrictively high price, if it ever shows up in Chicago, that is.

I traded for the Octane Set….Totally Freekin’ Sweet

  • kdthomas says:

They overpriced these sets and that’s why they are not moving. Even at $14.99 they are still too high. These should be no more than $10 and they would be moving.

    • I-am-speed says:

They would be moving if there was a selection available, but they spent so many months shipping out the same cases with HTB, Dinoco, and LeakLess that the shelves are flooded, since Target buyers don’t realize that they’re purchasing the same goods over and over.

  • I-am-speed says:

If they’d just skip the “set” and release all of the Crew Chiefs, I’d be fine with that.

We’ve seen the NoStall and RPM Crew Chiefs as singles, why not just do the rest that way?

  • BMW says:

    Easy Idle Hauler?
    N20 Cola Hauler?
We see the Team Crew Sets for these but not the haulers? Seems backwards.
Octane Gain team set was date stamped Nov 12 and 13th of last year, yet very few have made it to the shelves of Target.

  • I-am-speed says:

Think about how far we have to go just to collect all of the race team haulers!

What’s the count right now, if we include Bumper Save, for haulers we can have right now?

    14?

    Out of 36?

    1 year before Cars 2?

Good luck finishing that part of the collection.

  • I-am-speed says:

Many Targets have the Crew sets on sale for $14.99 until June 19, so maybe we’ll get lucky if others buy up some of the old sets.

The only Octane Gain Crew sets on Ebay are in CA, so the wave hasn’t begun to move eastward.

  • TarheelBill says:

These Team Crew sets have all been pretty much shelf warmers around here from the start.

  • lou says:

just more poor planning, marketing, production by MATTEL. you have the sculpts for the pitties and crew chiefs, just change the paint and stickers and we’ll buy them. instead they overproduce dinoco, htb & leakless- they don’t sell through and then they’ll say there’s no interest at consumer level. WRONG- there is interest, but not in same product, how much effort does it take to change the paint color and stickers, please. and even if it required some effort, isn’t that their business? again, WAKE-UP, WAKE-UP MATTEL.

  • pwschuh says:

No thanks. Unless you are trying to recreate an entire SOTS diorama, what is the point in buying these sets? In addition to all of the haulers, I won’t be buying these either. And at least the haulers were probably all shown briefly in the track overview shots. Has anyone gone through frame-by-frame to see how many of these pitties and crew chiefs actually appeared in the film?

  • Mike H says:

Right next to me at work, I have my plastic cases with LeakLess, RPM and No Stall Pitties. I think they’re as far as I’m going to go. Didn’t even try for HTB or Dinoco’s Pit Crew sets.

What is the point of collecting if I’m never going to find all of this certain type? I’ve had enough headaches over 4 years trying to get all the SOTS racers.

  • cac1959 says:

Team Crew sets at $19.99 plus tax are too expensive for the casual collectors… Too many LeakLess (2 new pittys), HTB (1 new crew chief) and Dinoco (2 new crew chiefs and 1 new pitty) in early cases… and they sit and sit…

Has the Team Octane Gain been in such short supply because Target refused case shipments of most the shipments that had 2 Octane Gain, 2 HTB, and 2 Dinoco and only a few made it in? Target’s not telling and neither is Mattel.

If only Target would put these up for sale on the website… those of use who want them would pay for them… and they wouldn’t get stuck with excess inventory at stores and the associated shipping costs to send those to the store…

Does anyone from Management/Marketing read TakeFiveADay and carsthetoys to learn what we want? Should they?

I got a Team Octane Gain crew set from a friend in California on January 21… he hasn’t seen it since… and very few people have.

Target needs to send the extras of the first 3 to Big Lots or another overstock chain.

  • Piston Car Hunter says:

Not sure what it’s like in other regions, but the problem here is they flooded the market with the original 3 pitty sets. Some of the Targets I check are still overstocked with the Leakless and HTB sets. If only the Mattel store would actually start carrying some of the Target exclusives. I don’t see why not, they got the KMart exclusives last year.

  • Brown Fury says:

Bring on the Nitroade set! That metallic black is so sweet!

  • jestrjef says:

These look incredible …. but we will NEVER see them … still NO SIGN of the Team Octane Gain Set …. I cannot imagine seeing any of these. I hope my friends can help us find them …. before Cars 3 🙁

  • Carlos says:

I hope the Easy Idle will have wide pitty w/o impact gun instead of fat pitty since we already have it. Glad they did it w/ others though.

  • L8rM8r says:

Yeah they tease us with them being listed online with Amazon/Target, and every time I go to Target I think, “Maybe today they will have at least Octane Gain crew.” Nope, not yet, and the other team sets are moving at a pace of maybe 1 every other week.
