Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Scale City

Now it’s time scale up (or down) your display … “69boss4291” sends along some nice photos of his Radiator Springs re-creation …

Note the proper placement of Sheriff way out of town. πŸ™‚

Tractor!

Thanks for the nice pics, “69boss4291” – I still see some other toys and space so you have more room to expand. πŸ™‚

But you know, once you start down this road, it can be a bit obsessive …

There is the rapidly popular S train scaleΒ  – more to match the common 1:64 diecasts, of course, while CARs are 1:55, it’s pretty close …

And I know Mater can plow down a couple bags of these along with some Nitroade …

Available from TwinWhistle.com – thanks, “Josh F.”

Next thing you can be like this guy from Australia

It’s a good thing he’s not collecting CARS, otherwise, he’d be in BIG TROUBLE. πŸ™‚

Or if you have a lot, a lot, a lot of free time … Michael Paul Smith – FLIKR link.

Sure, you say … just good nostalgia photos, right?

Just another Midwest town, right?

Just another Route 66 city, right?

Nope, all models – dude might has some skills (and maybe more free time than you).

Or a 4-minute video of what your basement should look like … (okay, it’s the world’s largest miniature city-scale railroad).

Miniature Wonderland-Hamburg.

Or if you had a staff of 20, your basement could easily look like this …

Carsland view3

Part of the display at Disneyland for CARSLAND

Wheel Well2

I think some sand, glue and some spray paint should do it, right? A couple hours, I’m guessing?

Or just attach it to this scale of LA …

Or if you have $3 mil – you can buy a miniature Moscow

(dude not included – you have to hire your own serfs to dust it)

And it LIGHTS UP!

Think of it this way – it’s like 9-million mileage points if you use your Amex card!

Or you can wear that Gozilla suit that your wife kept saying was a stupid purchase and that you would never find the right time to wear it – and just walk around and through it – just to show her! Don’t forget to growl.

Just remember to film it for YouTube.

MORE! “Scooby Doo” sends us some very cool pics of the Dutch miniature city theme park “Madurodam” in The Hague. (If you get out early while you’re in recess at the World Court for importing the Apple CAR) πŸ™‚

Great details on the FULL LUGGAGE transport … πŸ™‚

The side pathway was open until drunken tourists kept falling in … JUST KIDDING! πŸ™‚

Since the trucks seem to be on a slot, I’m presuming they drive up and down the highway? Nice!

You can check out their website.

Looks like someone needs to launch a travel site devoted to seeing cool miniature cities all over the world. So, “69boss4291,” if you see a bus pull up and three dozen people spill out, the miniature worldwide tour has started so make some lemonade! πŸ™‚

If Met hadn’t linked to Miniature Wonderland, I would have. I’ve only seen the videos, but WOW!

I’m particularly impressed by their extensive use of the Faller Car System, which uses self-powered scale vehicled that follow a wire buried under the road surface! They’ve adapted it so that a central computer controls each vehicle independently, and they “drive” autonomously according to conditions and programming.

I love this kinda stuff, and if I had the time, resources, talent — oh, yeah, and a basement — I’d be working on something like this, too. Except my layout would have Radiator Springs, a Conjunction Junction railyard, an Island of Sodor, Mr. Rogers’ trolley…

But what I really want is something like this to run my slotCARS around:

Yes, the Katz-Spa-Ring is legendary! What a track. If you haven’t seen Portugal in a Playroom or Kastleburg Raceway, you should google those… simply amazing.

  • NeoSK says:

in fact i really hope mattel will release more buildings from the Radiator Spring.. 4 is simply not enough

    Awesome.
All I have is a racetrack garden with custom cars tiles (my daughter painted me) in the center. Someday I’ll find a rusty old tow truck to add to it.

off topic, just found some more Kmart day piston cup exclusives at tesco (uk) picked up spare-o-mint and transberry juice, they also had ziew zeen and shiney wax…

they were hooked onto a thin vertical plastic strip, the kind that they put between shelves to sell more,

    • TFCars95 says:

I saw them too! I have only seen them at Tesco extra in Barhill though.

      • Roswell says:

this was a regular tesco in hereford(herefordshire)

they were with supercharged cars like: big scale fred, cactus LMQ, pace car ect…

this means my racer count is 16!

Trunk Fresh, Bumper Save, Spare-o-mint, Nitroade, Torquee Pistons, No Stall, Tow Cap, Shiney Wax, Clutch Aid, RPM, Retread, Leak Less, Transberry Juice, View Zeen, Shifty Drug and Gasprin

There is some seriously talented folks doing that work. INCREDIBLE!! I do feel like I need my Godzilla suit ….. to go stomping out some trouble! πŸ™‚

  • TFCars95 says:

  • MackDaddy says:

I can sit and stare at miniatures for hours. I love this stuff. Great post Met. Is it just me or does Flo’s cafe, in that third photo, look like the USS Enterprise from the top? Maybe it’s just me. Live long and prosper. πŸ˜€

  • chuki_mama says:

WOW!!! 8) To have talent and time to create that is wonderful!

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

That first setup is awesome in its simplicity and kind of what made the others so absurdly funny. Is every third blink of the traffic light slower? I love it!!

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Actually the displays of LA and Moscow are not at all absurd. Coming from New York, there is also a 900,000 building diorama of the City Of New York at Flushing Meadows Park (Queens). It is continually updated to reflect changes in the city scape. Of course it is a tourist attraction going back to the 1939 World Fair. Static model building take a lot of patience to recreate a city scape or otherwise. Same with model railroading. Same with collectors who build small scale doll houses. All of these hobbies take a lot more effort than opening a box of a ready made toy. I bet the pictures of the diorama of the 1940’s-1950’s cars made the viewer take a second look to discern whether it was a picture of 1:1 scale vehicles. Hats off to those creators. If you’re ever in the King and Pierce County (WA) area check out the schedule for the various model railroad exhibits and military miniature exhibits or the continuing static model railroad exhibit at the Washington State History Museum. These hobbies take much more effort than slapping a die cast car onto a wall display.
