If you have not found the 2010 Storytellers (cousins, showstopper ‘girls.’), don’t panic just yet or better yet, don’t panic at all.
They will appear on an endcap eventually – maybe next week? Or the week after Black Friday but soon. BMW says the CASE is:

went to one of my area targets tonight. saw pegs full of storytellers as I rounded the corner of the cars aisle.I got so excited. Nothing but the old ones. Bummer!!!!!! must have been about 20 sponsorless mcqueens and about ten three packs. I asked a clerk if maybe they had the new ones in other boxes in the back. Didn’t bother looking though and said everything they had must be out.Blah blah blah! My closest target that has only been open about 4 months never even got any final lap cars yet, so I’m not counting on this endcap either. Won’t stop looking though. Did get lucky at the Disney store today though. El Materdor set and Mater the greater sets. YEAH!!!
Found these 2 weeks ago at Target and they are easily some of my favorite pieces.
The girls look great…..really nice paint jobs, and the cousins are just awesome…really look rusted.
I found all except Laverne 3 weeks ago. Still need her. The employees (jerks) at all my Targets won’t lift a finger to check in the back.
Here’s hoping they have these soon… I’d love to add these to my collection… I’ve been to 4 different cities looking for these… I’m on vacation next week and it would be great to score these before Thanksgiving…

Our DVR has the next Mater’s Tall Tales, “Unidentified Flying Mater”, set to record at 6:55 PM Eastern next Wednesday, the 25th……..replaying at 8:55 PM
I just found it on my guide listing. You may want to check again.
I’ll keep an eye out for it tomorrow night, but the Dish Network programming shows it for next Wednesday and set it to record at those times.

My Target in Colorado Springs, CO has had these several times but they have been sold out. We only found Buford so far.
Are all the show girls painted in one color? Their pictures on the packaging show white detailing either on the fin or the bottom half of the car. It would be cool to have that version as well.

Sounds like Tim should put the Zona-Saw away from the Ambulance job for a bit and DO get the airbrush fired up and do a TFAD’ers custom paint on the Storytellers.

It looks like they skipped the 2-tone paint on the girls(the card images show the off-white/white accent colors)…..guess I’ll be getting out my airbrush to get the correct color scheme on mine, whenever I’m able to actually find them.
(BMW confirmed that they are single-colored and don’t match the card back.)
You guys can air brush them, examine them, critique them and analyze them all you want.
. They’re fun and great. The # 1 criteria for a toy. John loves them just the way they are. So the ultimate test has been passed. We have some winners here. I guess nothing is perfect and if you look hard enough you can find flaws on almost anything buy for a 7.00 rolling piece of art kids toy, theses are simply awesome.

My local Target has nothing worthwhile in the Cars line. None of the stuff is moving. Maybe people are nursing their $$$ along waiting to stretch it for Christmas. The candy/seasonal section is totally void of the Storyteller six pack and singles- no even a McQueen! And the associates had just finished stocking from the night time delivery!
Has anyone checked the DPCI numbers for the 6 pack and singles for you to make sure they’re not sitting in the back room?
Some Targets are putting them out on the shelves. a lone Cletus today.
It seems they are disappearing fast.
Found these here a little over a week ago. They weren’t on the floor, so we used the DPCI and had a worker search in the back for us where he found them for us. They are really cool. Don’t know if that case should’ve been our endcap, but we haven’t seen anymore since.

Yes, single paint color, but so well done. The pearl finish on Laverne surprised me.
Why 2 Bufords? Can we be sure each case will have a second Buford, or perhaps another will have an extra Jud, another an extra Laverne, etc…
No, all cases so far have had 2 Buford’s. They should have just put one each of the new ones in there. This reminds me of Kmart Day when they have unequal numbers of racers in each case.
I don’t think it would be Mattel if it made sense.

Very cool news on the endcap. I was soooo hoping TGT was going to do another one this year; nothing better than an entire endcap of must-have new stuff!
These are tough to come by, no doubt! I have visited more than a dozen Targets multiple times in the last 3 weeks and I have only found 1 set of the Girls and 2 sets of the Cousins. I am sure more will be out soon!
Patience and persistance will eventually pay off.
Gotta keep going to find No Stall and RPM Haulers anyway, right??
I found the three girls about 10 days ago. They are awesome! But I havent seen any more since. My only complaint is the fins – since they are plastic some on mine were warped, they have “wacky fin disorder”
But they are beautiful!!!!

Motorama girls. Each one gets a different paint treatment by Mattel. The pictures just don’t show this. Love the silver trim paint too.
Rhonda- flecks of gold in her paint with the silver trim.
Laverne – pearlescent paint with reflections of the rainbow.
Sheila- like Rhonda with more flecking.
Worth the price for sure. Hope everyone finds them that wants ‘em.
Is there some code number/letter or anything on the CASE BOX that would differentiate it from the old cases? Like the mainline singles always had a case letter (case a, case b) at the end of the number. Just trying to come up with some way to help the stock people locate the right box.
Shelby, sorry I was so excited to see them, I forgot to look at the printing on the outside. The associate never let me hold the box, as he opened it, and he removed the cars one by one, as he scanned them for my purchase, when I told him I would take all the new ones. There were only three left in the box, 2 Sponsorless and one Brand new Mater.
Good question. I believe the major difference I noticed is that last years case has printed on it fall assortment or someting to that effect. It definetely says fall. I don’t believe I saw that on the new case assortment. I think it may only say Storytellers assortment on the new cases. I didn’t notice the fall assortment marked on the new case but I was so excited to finally see the new ones in person, I didn’t really study it. However so far I think that’s one way you can tell. I could be wrong but that’s my initial observation.
Either way these are awesome. Retro Cars are my favorite. Forget outer space Mater. They should make a kind of back to the future Mater Tall tales with Maters Grand Daddy set in an old town in the 30′s or something with all vintage Cars. That would be a great tall tales line. “You know my Grand Daddy used to be a …….”.
Ok, this helps! I, too, know that the old assortment says FALL on the box because I saw an old case while trying to find the new. I haven’t seen a new case yet, though. I’ll try asking for “a box that does not say Fall on it” and see if that works. Thanks!
I would just tell them you’re trying to find the “Cousins” and the “Showstoppers”, as indicated on the inner rear flap of each package.
I would much prefer Case B of the Final Lap series and full end cap of new cars from the original line…..
Don’t you count the Showstoppers as maybe semi-canon, since they were on the DVD as being from a cut scene from the original movie?
Where are the show stoppers on the DVD? Are they on the cars finder? I would think that counts as cannonish and warrants a purchase
They have deleted scenes on the regular DVD. One of them is a song and dance number with the Showstoppers. The others involve an alternate way in which Lightning & Mack are separated at the Truck Stop, and a very scary one with Lightning getting a new engine from a junkyard or something. …it’s been a while since I watched it, so I’m probably messing up the details and angering purists.
We don’t have a Blu-Ray player yet — can you play “normal” DVDs on them?
Yes, you can play DVDs on a Blu-ray player.
Thanks — I’ve always been a super-slow-adopter on new technologies. I’d be like Austin Powers putting a CD on a phonograph and trying to play it.
I held back a little on getting a Blu-ray player until I could tell it would win out over HD-DVD.
