Has anyone else compared the SDCC Mater to Cruisin McQueen?
The paint looks identical, color and finish.
Just ordered another one to give to my nephew (along with a Buzz for me). Still not sold out. I think the price point is high enough that it is probably keeping some folks out (but I don’t think it is overpriced for what you are getting).
FYI – The Buzz Lightyear on Matty does not have ‘ANDY’ written on the foot. Only the SDCC ones had that.

Maybe it will teach the hoarders not to hoard (can’t return these very easily) and let Mattel know they can still turn a nice profit as long as they have a sufficient supply of something in demand.

BTW, in regards to your last statement MET – I use the Paypal plugin all the time. I love it because it will generate a random CC # when you use it. So you don’t have to have your credit card in front of you to order. And you don’t have to waste your time typing in your name, credit card #, etc etc. It works really slick and I LOVE it! I think you can also save your CC#s into it to use those if you want. But if you just want it out of your Paypal account balance.. it can generate a one time use # for that checkout. Hope that made sense….

Did some checking on older posts to see what the production was last year versus this year. Not 10,000 made last year but 7000.

Includes MattyCollector shipping costs. Pricing has stabilized but undoubtly will eventually rise a little more as the selling supply diminishes and new collectors come on board.
So the production went up 1000 to 8000 for this year versus last. And of course price was double, from 15 to 30 dollars.
May explain why they are not selling out.
(MET: I don’t think production numbers are vastly different but at twice the price, it’s harder to hoard … at $15, you can buy 10 for $150 … this year, $150 will only buy you 4 …).

In Met’s defense, when u add in shipping, if u only have $150, you can only buy 4.

Actually, Lyndsee did most of the packaging, so she gets the kudos for that. Kevin sorted then like a zillion times and I double checked every box, printed labels, and sealed them up.
8 pm here…still knot sold out…surprised to tell the truth… glad everyone got what they needed….
Maybe we won;t need Kevin and Jake to move heaven and earth next year, since this one went much smoother….maybe!
The quality is great… and I feel the set is worth the $30.00 price… However, for most people in today’s economy it’s harder to come up with $30.00 than it was to come up with $15.00. We’re also 6 weeks removed from the 2nd Kmart Collector Event, and some of us haven’t recovered from going over budget during that!
You all have to remember that there is 3 cars in the 2009 set and only 1 in 2008 but nicer case to display in 2008 SDCC. Just a thought for the price increase.

Well somebody is, some here bought a dozen or more.
Well compared to last years LSLM, it is twice as much cash….people reselling them will have to work a little harder to make the same profit. And this years economic problems have left people who do have extra cash a little more reluctant. Im thinking its really only the true collectors buying, and maybe not in as big quantity.
I think that is a fair and accurate estimation of what is going on. But there are also 2000 less this year, right? Either way, I am just glad no one was buying as much so that I could get mine!!
I also think cac1959 is completely right in that some of us haven’t recovered from our over indulgence in KMart Day 2!! LOL
actually there are more this year than last. I checked the posts Met made. There were 7000 last year and 8000 this year. So more avail. Also 5000 were avail last year at SDCC and 2000 on Matty.
Wonder how many they actually sold at SDCC this year?

Yeah, and that’s because matty is really limiting their production on the MOTU figures, trying to base production numbers on the actual number of people who are collecting them. So they are much harder to collect. You’ll notice they are now offering a MOTU “figure of the month club.” I think it’s the only way you’ll be assured you will get the upcing figures.
I think we are just one of the few sites promoting it thats why– i truely think most people don’t even know they are out there yet— all my budies were surprised that it was released today

Support your local fire dept. I ordered a couple extra, and plan on giving them to the volunteer fire dept near me. My uncle and cousins were all Captains on the San Diego Fire Dept, before retiring. And they are super people, firefighters save lives.
So just a suggestion to those who have or are getting extras, their kids will love them.
