Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: The CARS Stimulus Plan Q4 2009

How are you set for space?

How are you set for spare cash?

It’s been months since we’ve gotten any stimulus cash and of course, you are raking it in with the solar-squirrel powered bullet train stimulus money like we are knee deep in it here … so we will be buying CARS, CARS, CARS and more CARS … but of course, you need to know the proper places to shop at …

“Regular” launchers are going exclusive – Target seems logical … but not definite.

Happy shopping – not that list is complete by any means 🙂

  • Great article it is definitely. My teacher has been seeking for this update.

  • Patrick says:

    hehehehehehehehehehehehehe 🙂 🙂

  • Ace Diamondrunner says:

    Met,

does “everywhere cars” include target? I haven’t seen lenticular cars there yet.

(MET: No. As chart indicates, Target will carry the Final Lap singles only).

  • PDIDDY55 says:

CTC has Carstoons 4-packs presale right now. 21.99 each

Dr Mater, Burnt Mcqueen and Nurse Mia and Tia

Rescue Squad Mater, Helicopter, Dalmation Mia and Tia

  • LUCA says:

    No MORE MINI ADVENTURES????????

  • buckland-blowouts says:

I wish Nascar was a bigger hit here in the Great White, that way Cars would be flyin’ off the shelves!!!

    Any ideas Dale Earnhardt Jr-Dude???

  • CaptainChunk says:

This is a great line, but the lack of proper distribution and price increases have started to wear me thin.

The daughter started collecting Transformers recently and they have much more “fun” factor, and are far more widely available. That’s going to cut into our Cars collecting big time.

    • PirateDad says:

PirateSon LOVES Transformers but they are SOOOO expensive…plus they are HARD to transform!!

      • Aaron & Jeanne Scriven says:

we do too!! we like the little robot heroes like the star wars galactic heroes lol we do those too hahaha

      • CaptainChunk says:

Some of them are definitely difficult, but that’s where dear old Dad comes in. I get to do all the hard work of transforming them for her. 😉

It can get quite pricey if you start picking up very many of them. But hey, at least after a couple hours of playing with them they aren’t covered in paint chips.

      • LiamsMom says:

My husband has Transformers, but I just see the 50 step instructions and I’m done. Whatever form it is in at the time becomes the BEST, most FUN form (because Mommy can’t work the toy)!

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

My son (34) still has his transformer collection from the 1980’s. Lots of fun! 🙂

    • MiaSenorita says:

We do Transformers too! We just took our 3 year old to the movie in the theater and he LOVED it as much as the first one. I thought he would be scared with the loud speakers and graphic show.. but he loved it. News Flash! Transformers are on sale at Walmart, I like about $3.00 off each size. We just bought the cargo plane with a little Optimus that rolls out of the cargo bay. FUN!

However, they are definitely expensive! Cars are still fun too though and we are avid collectors of them. We only get a few transformers due to storage and price issues 🙂

  • Michigander says:

We REALLY wish companies would STOP doing store exclusives!!!

There is NO Target or Toys-R-Us here!

The nearest K-Mart and Wal-Mart is a 30 minute drive and they NEVER seem to stock “NEW” product – especially the Wal-Mart, they do NOT stock there own exclusives?

Collectors should not have to over-pay on Epay or pay extra for shipping to buy from other collectors just to get new product.

    NO MORE STORE EXCLUSIVES!!!

    NO more re-issues either!

  • I-LUV-RACE-CARS says:

Are all the Launchers going to keep coming everywhere? Or just the new lightyear launchers? I have not gotten my Mood-springs, easy-idle, retread and Fiber fuel yet! They can’t do this to me!

  • Bill in Simi Valley, CA says:

Are they ever going to have more playsets? The street in front of the Curio is so crowded that Bessie’s gonna have to fix the road yet again…

  • acuransx says:

    Ladies & Gentlecars,

Other than the too many pegwarmers MCQ we are doing what we said we’d do. Give you more new die cast offerings. First not enough, now Wow, how can I afford this/keep up with all the new stuff?

Just can’t seem to win with you guys 🙂

BTW, we’re working on the pegwarm problem so stand by to stand by as the Mattel/Disney/Pixar Cars new die cast dam may break soon.

    • chuki_mama says:

      Martin,

The problem is NOT you. This family is very excited 😀 and can’t wait to get the new cars. YOU win with us, but the stores in this area are a let down.

The problem is the distribution of Target. There is a Target distibution center near me, but my stores seem to get the tail end of the cases. For me to get the new cars, I used to have to drive up north to Tacoma and even Puyullap. That wasn’t too bad when the kids were in school, but now, taking all of them to search for cars is hard. They see the cool pictures posted here and want the cars, BUT get very discouraged when they don’t see them in the stores. HOW does one explain distribution to a child? 🙁

We haven’t even gone looking for about a week now since they were discouraged last week not to find a Sarge.

      • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Chuki_mama, I’m still looking! Not even the antique mall kiosk guy has AWOL Sarge (That’s my new name for Saluting Sarge). No Swen either.

AWOL= Absent With Out Lenticulars or Absent Without leave 🙂

    • LiamsMom says:

If I can find it, I can afford it! Keep the new cars coming!!!

    • MackDaddy says:

Supply lines are getting longer and harder to maintain.

    • L8rM8r says:

Like I said I knew we were beating a dead horse and I have faith that the ship is starting to right itself. I mean look at the last few MegaSized cases. 3 Franks in one 3 Sven in the other with 2 No Stall Cabs and an Elvis to boot.

Not to mention the amazing Kmart case. It is looking up, but I think we just hope that the trend continues.

I think Met stated this before, about how we understand that McQueen is the main man and any new fan will look for them first so there is a need to keep the main characters in circulation. We just want to make sure that there is balance to the Force.

Thanks as always and it was not meant to be negative, just showing that the line is strong and could be stronger with a few minor adjustments to evening out the distribution. I am not worried about the money side of things, just keep them coming and don’t let my wife know what is coming up.

      • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

McQueen may be the main character. However, out of 18 McQueens from the two cases pegged at Wal-Mart last week, 15 are still sitting there. The balance of the two cases left are two Radiator Springs McQueens and one Chick Hicks. That is a fairly dismal retail sale for an entire week. In the last week the Lakewood (WA) Wal-Mart has sold exactly one lenticular Car. Maybe those googly eyes aren’t such a big seller for McQueen.

    • Jeaks says:

If I can’t afford it then my motto is “two kidneys is one too many”

    • TarheelBill says:

I just wish they would do something different with the “Chase” thing. There is no purpose served by limiting availability of these. Mattel is in the business of selling toys, so just get the things on the pegs so we can buy them…Please! 😉

      • Ace Diamondrunner says:

        Bill,

There is a purpose served…low supply and high demand = greater consumer interest for Mattel’s product and an increase in the number of visits people make to the retailers…and an additional reason for parent/enthusiasts like me to keep looking/buying.

I don’t have a saluting sarge yet, but I’m not mad. I’ll patiently wait for the day I find or trade for it.

  • jestrjef says:

Seems like this COULD be a great thing. Could be a bad thing, too.

Mattel packs TOO MANY peg warmers in a case and Target order too little too often. If the Mattel Case assortments were better, product would FLY off Target pegs and Target would order more frequently.

If you ask me, the way Target orders right now and the way Mattel has been packing the now “Classic” Line, it is a on skinny, bumpy road with a slippery slope on one side and a avalanche on the other.

I will try to stay positive about all of those other cool things! I am very glad to see that the Launchers may continue with Target, and Mattel has been packing those cases GREAT!! I would love to see ALL of the Racers released on Launchers!!

No matter what happen, we are going to need a truck load of money to be able to keep up with all the cool things that are coming!!

    • chuki_mama says:

I have to agree with you! 😀 This is getting to be a very expensive hobby! Good thing it is my only one. The kids don’t want “ONE” of everything anymore unless it is a car that they LOVE.

Unfortunately, the Targets around here have the same pegwarmers for the last month. 🙁 There has been no new cars around this area and Wal-Mart only has the lenticular McQueens left. I have yet to find a Saluting Sarge around this area and refuse to go “looking” for one a 4:00 am.

      • L8rM8r says:

Yeah Target in the NE area has had some new MegaSized, and random movie moments as I found Flea and Flik yesterday, but they must have 20 Tumbleweed McQueens as well as a plethora of other McQueen styles.

I know we have beaten this horse a lot, but I too am very concerned about this being a Target exclusive line. I have a feeling that like many we will be forced to go to e-bay if we can’t find anything in the stores. I would love to complete the mainline, but if Target is the only source it will be a tall order without help from the masses. Lets not forget our overseas friends who have no other option.

I want to be wrong but look at the Lenticular line which seems to be doing fairly well, with the exception of the never ending supply of McQueen’s packed in these cases. My local WM was wiped out of the cars the first two or three days and there are still about 8 McQueens that are hanging on the pegs from two cases they put out.

I just hope that when they do decide to start packing these cases they have mercy on the masses and make the selection more diverse.

        • TJH-AZ says:

The Lenticular line isn’t doing anything around me. The 13 WM’s around me ALL have pretty much everything left from 2 or 3 cases they originally put out EXCEPT the Salutin Sarge’s and Chase Ferrari’s. The pegs have been full for over 2 weeks now and I’m guessing they’ll continue to be full. Only collectors see a value in a $3.99 car with rubberized tires (@ WM) VS. a $2.99 car without (@ Target).
My son LOVES tow trucks. His favorite new show on TV is “Wrecked” on the Speed Channel. So, his grandma gave him a Maisto Tow truck with car. Cost her $6.99 she said. The car has decent detail and rubber tires. The tow truck is also pretty darn cool. It’s a flat bed so he can tow ALL his cars. Point being, while $6.99 is expensive, it’s not really for 2 cars. I realize that Maisto is a pretty lowley brand, but do you think Non-collectors really care? My son absolutely digs this tow truck. He’s going to want ALL the ones he can find. Does the tow hook on Mater work? No.
So rubber tires really aren’t going to do much for him if Mater can’t tow anything. And, the bottom line is that Mattel isn’t really supporting these new releases with a new movie, or new books so how is the general public going to know about them? To a parent and child walking through Target, I think the pegs look pretty much the same as they have over the last 6 months. I think WM has their work cut out for them trying to unload the lenticulars and Target, well unless the new cases are full of totally new cars (which they aren’t), then once all the new releases are picked up by the collectors, the pegs are going to sit full of the same old cars. The saving grace for Target is that the cars are $1 cheaper than WM, rubberized tires or not.

          • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

If your son is into die cast tow trucks cultivate that interest. There are some really cool big boy (adult) castings out there in perfect scale. They are not toys, but, someday he should be ready for them.

  • Daniel says:

Target should change their name to Car-get.

I wish the other retailers would commit more to Cars as Target has…especially if they are world-wide.

  • LiamsMom says:

Thanks for the clarification. I always make fun of my Mom for driving around to 4 groceries to get the best deals…maybe I should stop doing that.

(MET: It’s not the savings but the principle … 🙂 Too bad you can’t sell food on the eBay – Slim Jim shortage coming … okay, it’s a “news” from the NY Post 🙂 ).

  • handoe213 says:

As long as all the good stuff is not a Kmart presale. Still trying to get my money back from a second charge on one box of the kmart event. Long live Target!!!!!

  • Daniel says:

    Long Live Target!!

  • Marcus' mom says:

Is there a posting that includes a closer pic of the Target only singles? My son is bothering me to see it “bigger” Thanks!

(MET: Original Target UPDATE HERE … some NEWER INFO HERE).

  • TarheelBill says:

Vacation was GREAT but it’s nice to be back on land and see what is going on in the Cars Universe. Looks like a lot of good info. came out while we cruised. Every WM we visited along the way had the same problem… Pegs FULL of Lenticular Lightning McQueen.

  • Aaron & Jeanne Scriven says:

I wish that we had a target connection like our great Kmart connection! then we could tell them that they have a crappy ordering process and they need seperate upc numbers!! LOL

  • Samuel says:

So maybe I missed something, but are the next batch of racers with synthetic tires (Kmart Event 3) starting to show up already? (the link to the France website shows the carded Rev N Go). There has been a list of 7 cars speculated for that event, but has anyone confirmed this yet. Met?

(MET: Looks pretty much set – whether it’s Sept or Oct is still a question … and those are from the factory back door).

  • Laurence says:

only at target if they can ever figure out what it takes to order product in sufficient quantity….

  • hostile takeover banker says:

“everywhere cars”?? maybe in a dream…

  • Bob Eckel says:

Get a Cat like I did… Then you don’t have to buy P-nuts. WOW!!! I do Love the 3-Pack Crew Chief and what… this go round TWO Pit Crew Workers? Maybe they will be the Body type that we don’t already have! I wish I wish PLEASE PLEASE

  • Matt says:

Looks like the Walmart Gorilla has got the Target bullseye on his back.

  • PirateDad says:
