Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Kmart CARS Cases – The Soap Opera (UPDATE!)
As the cases are arriving from Illinois to your doorstep, the correct to incorrect ratio is not high enough – right, now, as I’m writing this – from those who voted in the poll (see right side of the page), it’s running about 80-20 …
The evidence is not very conclusive yet but here’s the recap.
Here’s the scenario. The CARS cases arrived in “master cartons” on a pallet. Depending on the pallet, there could be nearly 60-70 master cartons or up to 360+ singles cases on each pallet as each master carton contains 6 of the “regular cases.”
Kmart.com then opened each of the master cartons, removing the six cases within and applied a “green label.”
In one sense, it’s completely random as we do not know the actual circumstances. The person applying the labels would simply slice open a master carton, dump out the 6 singles cases and attach a label. But we don’t know the order in which the person worked from the pallet – going from layer to layer top to bottom or after going through the top layer, closest to furthest away.
The photo above is from a box labeled #496 of 807 (see the small number above the green strip of 7840?)
Cases bearing the numbers #330, #346, #351 & #383 contain the poorest case assortment (shown below) with 4 Lightning McQueen’s.
Does that mean EVERY case within #330ish to #383ish is EXACTLY like the one below and poor? NO. Because Richard K. reports his case #372 is all fine so hopefully it’s just random – though of course, not very re-assuring.
Mike C reports an unopened case sent to his parents house with the #359 number – is it a “bad” case? Too early to say conclusively as there are “good” numbers/cases in that numbering range.
But wait, there’s more …
There is another non-correct packout that’s DIFFERENT from the one above. The main difference is the inclusion of the Vitoline Pitty & Chase Mario and not 4 Lightning McQueen’s.
So, going by the incomplete evidence so far, everything in 100, 200, 600, 700 and the 800 ranges all seem to be okay. That could change of course but as of now, they seem safe.
Visually, here’s where we stand for those reporting in (REPORT IN ALL THE NUMBERS FOR YOUR BAD CASES & Good ones between 313 & 528):
Yes, it’s some kind of craptacular Keno game. GREEN means confirmed good and RED means confirmed BAD. “L8rM8r” reports his case #312 is fine so we’ll presume that’s our floor and #527 seems the highest bad case # (other than the two oddball ones)…
I am only going to track this range as this seems to be the most obvious trouble range though SlicePie got a poor 711 so now it might be nearly 100% random
Also keep in mind, the mailing of the CASES even from its “Kmart” numbering sequence is TOTALLY random as I received two cases in a bigger box with numbers no where near each other so it’s all just happenstance.
So, add your info to our poll and if you get a number between 313 and 528, be sure and drop us a note in the comments or by email if its ALL GOOD or ALL BAD
If there are any CSI geniuses out there, I’ll bet you could reconstruct how this pallet was stacked
What to do if you get a bad case? Well, the second bad case version is not as terrible as instead of getting 8 CARS as McQueen or Patti, you do get most of the others CARS and racers and you should be able to trade for the missing one or two Piston Cup racers.
But if you prefer, you can return the box to your Kmart Store. Bring the original packing documents and the credit card (presumable paypal returns can only be done through kmart.com).

Don’t know if you are still keeping track of numbers. I received mine last week 650/807 and it was perfect. Thank god.
Just got my case today. Like the previous poster, I don’t have a green sticker. Instead, I have blue ones.
Still no KMart case on my doorstep, but I am keeping my chonies on.
they were OK
i received my pre-order case today It is #693/807 and it is correct.
I received my case from the pre-order today and it is correct. However, it did not have a green sticker on it, but rather a blue one with #20/239 on it.
I got my first case of 2 today, it didn’t have a green Kmart sticker on it and I haven’t checked the contents yet
The box appears to be in really good condition. I read the other post on open vs unopened and I think I’m gonna keep it closed for now as it can only be opened once.
