Available July 22, 2009 at SD Comic Con (preview night) and then at MattyCollector.com on July 27, 2009. Both places will have their own allotments so don’t worry … and yes, while SD Comic Con’s 4-day pass (really 5-day pass) is sold out, preview night is ONLY three hours long – Mattel will only manage to process so many orders the first night through anyway so there is ZERO chance it will sell out – plus with a max purchase of 4, the process should go smoother but plenty to go around the first days … Unless you show up Sunday night an hour before the show closes, you should be fine.
The process will presumably work like last year’s (after the initial debacle … of course, Matty was oddly surprised there would be hundreds of people in line ready to buy CARS – go figure). At the back of the registration area (second floor), there will be a Mattel table where you get a number and a time allotment to go back downstairs to stand in the line circling the Mattel display area on the main floor. They will check your assigned time before letting you line up downstairs. This cut down on the number of people standing in line for hours on end or for those from NY … on line for hours 🙂
Or on Monday (presumably) – ordering will be available WORLDWIDE.

It lights up way better that the MOU King Grayskull they sold last year. My hope is that everybody who wants one gets one. Weii worth the $30 giving that we basically gave a way LSMCQ last year.

Thanks for your complement and it’s funny cause I shot these in a really big hurry because I had a meeting to go to and was already late. If I ever really get some time I’d like to do a better job shooting these. I shot them myself because it I have it done here by a real pro it would take a weeks wait and paperwork.
I taped two pieces of 11″x17″ xerox paper together and used as my backdrop seamless. Talk about lowball 🙂

I’ll do a before and after shot once it’s lit up when you press the try me button. May not get the full effect but I’ll try.
Once we tune in the white pearl paint finish on the girls we should be good. Gotta love this place……………

Martin, if you shot these you did a great job in capturing the details on Mater. The backside shot is amazing. The details from the rear of the truck are truly breathtaking.

The paint finish on the girls will be pearl but it is very hard to see in my photo as I’m a designer/artist not a photographer. Our HK team is working on getting it right as pearl finishes are even harder than double Ransburg finishes which always gives us fits for approval.
Just remember Lasseter has to smile immediately when he see’s it or it’s LUCY!!!!!!!!!!!!and Martin has some splaining to do 🙁

The way it sounds Lasseter agonizes over these cars, it reminds me of the opening footage in ‘The PIXAR Story,’ where he’s in a meeting, discussing the finer points of designing Sheriff, going over sketches and an actual die-cast of the non-CARS police cruiser, in discussing detail.
It would be quite a deal if Met could ever host JL in a live chat on this site! He’s the Beatles of animation!

Yeah not a problem PirateDad..that’s what this forum is for. Us CARS loving junkies getting together and sharing our thoughts and our finds. Had to share this one. After seeing this post about SDCC MATER with Dalmatians Mia and Tia and then finding these sweet pics of the upcoming CARS lines, I just went NUTS with JOY. Had to share right away. I kept wanting to post and post and my computer froze, ended up seemmingly stuttering somehow like jestrjef mentions haha. Yeah I wondered too if this is a legitimate store. It’s probabably a store that maybe sells factory “2nds”,”rejects”, and “damaged” since they seem to have quite a few loose CARS as well as a few of some of these yet to be released ones. That GOLD Lightning McQueen looks really sweet. Talk about BLING BLING LIGHTNING MCQUEEN! Seems to be the most expensive one there. CNY 1,999 chinesse yuan to USD = $292.44.

Agreed Monica! I think it is just an excuse so they don’t have to spend as much money as the rest of us. Who cares if it is to scale, in the movie, blah blah blah, these are GREAT Sculpts, great diecasts. Any collector would love to have these!

I can’t leak to package photo yet until a month as they want to keep the buzz going.
The packout is awesome. They will come packed out in a diorama window box package that has a try me light up feature. They are standing in front of the Gasoline and Match factory just like in the Carstoon. The clear Mylar windows have flames rendered on them like the building is on fire.
Press a “try Me” button on the right hand side and red LED’s turn on in a sequence behind the printed flames. Looks like real fire.
“You remember, you was there too”. We got ‘er done. Hope you like it.
In consideration of different climates and weather patterns from California, I believe that, “for saafety reasons”, you shoud send one to me, just be be on the safe side….I promise to thoroughly TEST it and “Try me”!
Yes, I would tend to agree, however, I live in the “Show Me State”, so it’s best that Martin send me a set…CASE…PALLET so that I may test out the different product features.
